Skin by Sonya: How to avoid post-acne scars
Scarring from acne breakouts and discoloration from sun damage and medication is something I see my clients concerned with every day. These are also two skin conditions that many people do not understand how to properly treat. I would like to shed some light on the topic today and give you some advice that will put you on the path to beautiful and healthy skin!
Here’s what you need to know:
It is very common for post-acne scars to develop, as scars form at the site of an injury to the tissue. In the case of acne, the injury is caused by the body’s inflammatory response to sebum, bacteria and dead cells in the plugged sebaceous follicle. (more…)

Beauty Expert Q & A: Celebrity Makeup Artist Billy B
For the record, I would like you to know that if there were a Billy B fan club, I would surely be President. Billy has an incredible gift that is rarely seen. He is marvelous at his craft and has inspired makeup artists far and wide. He has painted some of the most famous faces in Hollywood and the music industry, but most importantly, Billy inspires everyday people like myself to be passionate about what they do and to never forget where they came from.

How to get Victoria Beckham’s Shag-arific Hair

Victoria Beckham at London Fashion Week 2009
Few people rock the short hair like Victoria Beckham. This busy mom of three, performer, designer, and fashion icon always looks polished, confident, and oh-so-glamorous—whether she’s dressed to the nines on the red carpet or donning boyfriend jeans around town.
But when the eye of the camera is always on, how does a glam goddess like VB grow out her pixie ‘do without succumbing to that dreaded “grow out” stage that is seemingly unavoidable to the rest of the human population?
As a busy mom myself, while I (and those like me!) might toss on a hat or (gasp!) give into the lure of hair extensions, our favorite Posh Mama makes the time-consuming grow-out-stage seem easy-as-pie for the stylin’ mom-on-go. Here, quick and simple tips to recreate it yourself:
- On clean, damp hair, work in a volumizing foam at the roots (Tip: I’m LOVING Number 4 Jour D’Automne Styling Foam) (more…)

The Fairest Contributor: Christine Mielke, Temptalia
Makeup addicts, take note: you will adore Christine Mielke, founder of popular beauty blog Temptalia, which comprehensively covers new launches and must-have items from brands big and small. At the tender age of 23 (as a matter of fact, today is her birthday!), Christine has already established herself as one of the most influential bloggers in all of beautyland.
How did you get the inspiration for your blog?
I really wanted to have a place to keep all of the different makeup looks I was doing. In a sense, it became an archive of looks I had done, but it also was somewhere I could post the latest look I did, too. It also helped that I had just recently become makeup OBSESSED so I needed an outlet for all my beauty chatter!
Who’s your personal beauty/style icon?
I can’t say that I have one. I find beauty is so much more than the outside, and it really has to do with how you feel inside, so it’s just such a personal view that I couldn’t see myself looking up to someone for their beauty/makeup. There are plenty of gorgeous ladies who have phenomenal faces and styles, though. If I had to choose someone who amazes me, it would be Kevyn Aucoin. He just showed me what it was like to experiment, have fun with makeup, and do what you want to do without thinking about rules and boundaries. (more…)
