Get The Look: Rumer Willis

September 10, 2009

Rumer WillisI recently had the pleasure of working again with longtime client Rumer Willis for her appearances–including David Letterman–promoting her upcoming film Sorority Row.  (It’s out September 11th, and if you like scary/funny movies, this is definitely one to see!)  So many blogs posted about Rumer’s new look for Letterman that I thought readers might be interested in how I achieved it.

Rumer has beautiful skin, so we used a sheer tinted moisturizer to enhance it, but only where needed. I find that foundation/tinted moisturizer looks more realistic and better when it’s a perfect match and is not used all over the face–that way, the eye is tricked into thinking it’s seeing natural skin all over the face, even if it’s not. Less is more in this case!  I used Porcelain Tinted Moisturizer from Laura Mercier. I gently contoured her cheekbones with MAC contouring powder and used a Mineralized Skinfinish to highlight the tops of her cheekbones, her brow bone and the cupids bow of her lips.

For eyes we used a combination of black and dark gray matte shadows to smoke up her eyes and highlighted the inner corner with a satin texture ivory color from my Beauté Cosmetics shadow collection (due out later this fall). Rumer loves black khol liner on the inner rim as well, so we used Stila Kajal liner on the inner rim for definition.  We added a few individual lashes to each eye before curling and adding mascara. I used YSL Faux Cils mascara (dries up fast, but SO good when it’s fresh!)

For cheeks we used Beauté Cosmetics Liqui-gel stain in Flouron (a startling neon orange in the tube, but actually sheer and bright petal pink upon application). I used our Beauté foundation brush to apply the stain and then let it set, once set I buffed a small amount of tinted moisturizer over it to make it look like it was coming from within. These stains last for HOURS, so Rumer loves them on both cheeks and lips… no touch ups required!

On lips we simply swiped on a bit of Beauté Luminous Volume Gloss in Medusa (which is a creamy pink beige).
