Celebrity Beauty How To: Christina Hendricks’ Emmy Look

christinaWhether in character as Joan Holloway or simply as herself, Mad Men star Christina Hendricks certainly knows a thing or two about being a temptress.

Last night at the Emmy Awards, all eyes were on Hendricks as she showed off her dazzling figure in a form fitting L’Wren Scott with a smoldering makeup look to match. We got the tips straight from Hendricks’ makeup artist this morning on how to get the look:

Makeup artist Georgie Eisdell says, “My inspiration was definitely the 20′s with a modern edge.  I wanted it to keep Christina’s makeup really fresh, clean and elegant- with a dramatic eye, and clean and fresh skin. The key part to her makeup was in the eyes.”

Eyes: I didn’t want to see hard lines but wanted a bit of drama so I blended charcoal and silver shadow on her eye lids (MAC shadows Carbon and Figueroa) making it a little stronger on her lash line, followed by Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner above the lash line, then lashes lashes lashes (2 sets of MAC lashes), and loads of mascara. I love YSL mascara.

Skin: Her skin was prepped with La Mer moisturizing lotion and then La Mer foundation. It gives great coverage without having to use a lot of product and it stays put which is key for any red carpet. The last thing I did before applying powder to her face was to use La Mer Radiant Concealer under her eyes. This product highlights beautifully, doesn’t cake on, and stays on polished and smooth for the entire evening! It gave her eyes the perfect pop that I was looking for.

Color: After the base I used a MAC cream blush. Then I powdered lightly with Laura Mercier translucent powder and then a powder blush after for a pop of colour on her cheeks – I used Nars Orgasm blush.  Finally, a light brush of bronzer – Bobbi Brown bronzer in medium and then I mixed two glosses – Dior Addict and MAC Florabundance.

Body: Just before she left I dusted her arms and decolletage with Laura Mercier Star Dust. It catches the light so beautifully and gives her skin the perfect glow.
