If there were ever a master-class on how to rock the perfect red lip, Drew Barrymore could be Professor.
Here she is last night at the AFI Fest screening of Everybody’s Fine, looking fresh-faced and demonstrating the old beauty adage of picking one feature (either eyes or lips), and letting it take center stage.
The blue-based red–with the slightest hint of magenta and purple undertones, the perfect complement to Drew’s dress–flatters a rosy, pinky complexion; meanwhile, the eyes are purposefully left next-to-bare. She sports only the slightest hint of sheer copper (possibly a dewy creme) on lids, and tops off the look with classically-arched brows and a light dusting of mascara.
A general rule of thumb for wearing red lipstick? Let your complexion undertones guide you. Tan or olive-skinned gals should pick an orange-y red. Peaches-and-cream or ruddier complexions will likely prefer (as does Drew) something with a blue base.
