Beyoncé launches Heat fragrance

Beyoncé has partnered with Coty to launch her first fragrance, a scent inspired by her fiery tours called Heat.

She tells WWD, “I’ve been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year, and I have meet-and-greets with fans. I’ve never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it. They were like, ‘I love that, I’m getting that, why isn’t it out right now? I need it!”

Featuring notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach, Beyoncé wanted something “with an antique yet modern feeling…I always try to find things that have a little bit of something vintage, yet still timeless and classic.”

While Beyonce has modeled as the face of fragrances in the past, she was reportedly integral in the creation of Heat, saying, “Everything, from the bottle design to the name and the ideas for the commercials–that’s me.”

Heat debuts in February.

Neil George sustainable partnership with Viceroy Hotel Group

Today I would love to talk about one of our wonderful partners,Viceroy hotels, as they open their latest amazing venture outside Aspen, Viceroy Snowmass (all the hotels are interior designed by the genius Kelly Wearstler), right in time for the holiday season.  Neil George amenities can be found in several other of their hotels, and we are really thrilled to be there!

We decided to go a different route when it came to the amenities, taking the high road and going sustainable: a concept that is becoming more and more present in daily life, and which we highly value. Instead of offering the typical small plastic (non eco-friendly) take-away amenities in each Viceroy hotel room,  we created sustainable bottles that are larger (and lovely-looking, to boot!) that can be refilled, instead of just tossed out like the waste-of-plastic-mini-bottles of yester-year.  We’re happy to be doing our small part to marry absolute luxury with the important concept of “green”.

Merry Christmas to all The Fairest’s readers!  See you in the New Year!

Rachel McAdams on January Vogue cover

Another week, another new look for Rachel McAdams, who graces the January cover of Vogue and stars in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr.  (Did you know Guy Richie directed it?  We didn’t either!)

We’ve been huge Rachel fans ever since Mean Girls and The Best Chick-Flick of All Time (aka The Notebook), so she can pretty much do no wrong in our book.  However, we’re a little confused by the Vogue stylists’ choices: the hair and brows don’t match, and the fuchsia lipstick wouldn’t have been flattering even back in 1986.

Still…the look is kind of 1950′s Italian chic…

Okay, Rachel.  You’ve won us over again.

Holiday Travel: The “World of Kiehl’s” Set

Holiday travel can be the bane of a beauty girl’s existence.  On the one hand you are trying to pack light and on the other you can’t travel without a few of your must-have beauty items.  This holiday season, let Kiehl’s give you a holly jolly Christmas with their World of Kiehl’s Set. This set includes a perfect TSA-approved sampling of some of Kiehl’s best for your entire body.  My top favorite during the colder months is Creme de Corps body lotion and I can guarantee you will find yourself purchasing a full size bottle upon returning.

Airplane air is some of the most drying air you will ever encounter–add that to colder temperatures, and your skin can get extremely parched.  I suggest slathering on the Ultra Facial Moisturizer during the flight so your skin arrives picture perfect.

Lastly, please don’t neglect the lips.  During the holidays, women tend to wear more red lips and nothing is worse than a dry, cracked, in-need-of-repair pout.  To keep your pucker pretty, Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 to the rescue!  Trust me.  This product will definitely have you spending more time under the mistletoe.

The Fairest sale: Juara Skincare

One of our favorite brands, Juara, goes on sale at The Fairest tomorrow.  We’ve already written at length (here and here) about why we love the Indonesian-inspired skin and body line so much, but some things bear repeating!

The luscious masks, scrubs, moisturizers and fragrances are all bursting with tropical richness and are full of island botanicals.  It’s that rarest of combinations: natural, effective and luxurious.  Our shower and bathroom sink are lined with products testifying to our devotion.

It’s hopeless.  We’re besotted.

Juara goes on sale Wednesday December 16th.
