Growing Back Overplucked Eyebrows
According to The New York Times, we’ve all become so tweezer-happy that no longer are too-full, Brooke Shields-style brows a beauty problem. Now, apparently, the issue is overplucking–and inspired by strong brows on sexy celebrities like Megan Fox, women are turning to brow experts and high-tech solutions to help coax their vanished, skinny-minnie arches back to life.
Brow guru Anastasia Soare cautions against following celebrity brow trends, instead aiming for an ideal shape based on bone structure and offering kits designed to help achieve the perfect arch right for your own face.
The article quotes Sephora makeup artist Sherlyn Mousaurieta, who says, “I would say 7 out 10 clients that come in have either overplucked or simply don’t have as much brow hair as they’d like…They desire to fill the brow in.” Saviors come in the form of brow powders and pencils, lash conditioners, growth products like Latisse, and even hair transplant surgery. (Confession: we fall in the anorexic brow category, and use Latisse nightly to help fill in our own wispy brows. So far, so good!)
What do you think? Have you struggled with your own too thin arches…and would you turn to something as drastic as hair transplant surgery to fix them?

Beyoncé launches Heat fragrance
Beyoncé has partnered with Coty to launch her first fragrance, a scent inspired by her fiery tours called Heat.
She tells WWD, “I’ve been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year, and I have meet-and-greets with fans. I’ve never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it. They were like, ‘I love that, I’m getting that, why isn’t it out right now? I need it!”
Featuring notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach, Beyoncé wanted something “with an antique yet modern feeling…I always try to find things that have a little bit of something vintage, yet still timeless and classic.”
While Beyonce has modeled as the face of fragrances in the past, she was reportedly integral in the creation of Heat, saying, “Everything, from the bottle design to the name and the ideas for the commercials–that’s me.”
Heat debuts in February.

Scientists discover a ‘curly hair gene’
So, looks like we’re one step closer to designer babies. According to the Telegraph, Australian scientists have identified a gene called trichohyalin, which causes curly hair. Depending on variations in the gene, you’ll either have curly locks or straight, and the chances of inheriting curls are 90%. What’s especially interesting is that the scientists are already partnering with a French beauty company to develop a straightening product. Heh. Doesn’t that sound kind of…freaky?
Until we learn more, we say rock the Living Proof for gorgeous, frizz-free curls, embrace what God gave you, and call it a day!
