Kristen Stewart rocks smokey eyes on the cover of Allure

Photographed by Michael Thompson for Allure
Attention, Twilight lovers! Your gal Kristen Stewart is on the cover of the November issue of Allure magazine looking smokin’–and rocking a serious set of smokey eyes.
Replicate the look yourself with rust-colored eyeshadow on the brow-bone and in the crease, plus smudged gray eyeliner on the top and bottom lash line. Finish with silver shadow at your inner corners, and don’t forget your well-groomed, strong brows. All you need are a few swipes of berry colored gloss and a dab of blush on the rest of the face.
Inside the magazine, K-Stew dishes on being perceived as a messy beauty:
“I go outside, and I’m wearing a funky T-shirt and my hair is dirty, and people say, ‘What’s wrong with her? She needs to invest in a hairbrush.’ I’m like, Don’t you get it? I’m not that girl! Like, I never was that girl. It’s not like I was really clean-cut last year.”
Touché! We think you look great just as you are, Kristen. (Although, thank heavens the black Joan Jett hair is–mostly–a thing of the past.) (more…)
Lauren Conrad’s eye makeup at LC for Kohl’s party

Do you still watch The Hills?
Lured in by the genius “The bitch is back” ad campaign featuring Kristen Cavallari, I got sucked into a Hills marathon this week – and, yeah, those are three hours of my life I’m never getting back.
Even though she’s hardly the girl-next door (unless the girl next door is a gorgeous, actor-fashion designer-author multimillionaire), there’s still something so appealing and relatable about Lauren Conrad. She was in West Hollywood last night for a party with Kohl’s celebrating her new fashion line, sporting a sleek, flatironed ponytail and superdefined eyes.
mark makeup artist Amy Nadine explains how she created LC’s Look-at-me! eye makeup. (Lauren’s regular hairstylist, by the way, is Kaz Amor from Warren-Tricomi. Love him!):
“Lauren never strays from her signature winged-out cat eyes, so to add some instant drama, I complimented them with a black ‘smoky under-eye’.
Blending is key for this look and edges should be smeared to add depth. I started by lining her eyes with mark Get in Line Waterproof Liquid Liner in Painted Black. Then I used mark Eyemarker Color On Line in Jet a few millimeters past the outside corners of her lower lash lines. I drew a thick line that became thinner as I dragged it inward, stopping 3/4 of the length of her eye. I then smudged it gently with my pinky finger to smoke it out.
Next, I took my mark Eyeliner Brush and dipped it in mark I-Mark Custom Eye Shadow in Corset dusting it on top of the line a couple times to make the original line even thicker. Then I coated her lashes with mark Make It Big Lash Plumping Mascara in Raven.”
Gorgeous!
How to get Victoria Beckham’s Shag-arific Hair

Victoria Beckham at London Fashion Week 2009
Few people rock the short hair like Victoria Beckham. This busy mom of three, performer, designer, and fashion icon always looks polished, confident, and oh-so-glamorous—whether she’s dressed to the nines on the red carpet or donning boyfriend jeans around town.
But when the eye of the camera is always on, how does a glam goddess like VB grow out her pixie ‘do without succumbing to that dreaded “grow out” stage that is seemingly unavoidable to the rest of the human population?
As a busy mom myself, while I (and those like me!) might toss on a hat or (gasp!) give into the lure of hair extensions, our favorite Posh Mama makes the time-consuming grow-out-stage seem easy-as-pie for the stylin’ mom-on-go. Here, quick and simple tips to recreate it yourself:
- On clean, damp hair, work in a volumizing foam at the roots (Tip: I’m LOVING Number 4 Jour D’Automne Styling Foam) (more…)
Beau Nelson chats with fellow celeb makeup artist Dean Bryant about Leighton Meester’s Emmy look

Leighton Meester at the 2009 Emmy Awards
Makeup artist Dean Bryant recently emailed me to let me know that he used one of my new Beauté Cosmetics Weightless Lip Cremes on Leighton Meester for the Emmys, so I took the opportunity to grill him about what else he used and ask him a few questions I thought our readers might be interested in. Check it out!
BEAU NELSON: How did you and Leighton decide on the look for the Emmys?
DEAN BRYANT: We decided together – the white dress reminded me of a sacrificial virgin, especially with the gold cuffs. I thought she could make a bit more of a statement with the makeup so it wasn’t too innocent. I would never have done that makeup if she was in a red or even black dress, or a dress that was overtly sexy. There was such an innocence about the dress, I thought it deserved a soft smokey eye, and a red “masochist” lip! (more…)
How to get straight hair like Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow at London Fashion Week
Gwyneth Paltrow has historically provided us with master classes in glassy, smooth, stick-straight hair…but for a while I feared her gorgeous locks had fallen off the radar.
No mas! This is a hair straightening program by which curly queen Ouidad herself would get seduced!
Listen up, kids–hair this straight takes work. Effort. Elbow grease. And lots and lots of product.
1) Wash and condition hair with an anti-frizz regimen. I’m partial, of course, to the Living Proof No Frizz system.
2) Gently blot (not rub) hair dry, to avoid messing up the cuticle shaft.
3) Apply anti-frizz serum or cream, focusing on ends and avoiding roots. (Can I get a “What, what?” for Living Proof No Frizz again? No, seriously. It’s the best.)
4) Apply a quarter-sized dollop of mousse (for fine hair) or a few spritzes of straightening/heat lotion (for everybody else). This will protect the hair shaft and provide hold.
5) Blowdry hair straight using a round brush. Pay close attention to the hair around the face. Dry cowlick-areas and bangs first. Don’t forget the back of your head!
6) Once hair is dry, clip up the top half and, using a flatiron (I love the FHI), straighten the bottom of hair. (more…)
